The History of Baptist Fellowship Church

Baptist Fellowship Church began on Sunday December 12, 1993 at the Holiday Inn on Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Hills; shortly there after the church moved to the Comfort Inn in Waterford Township.  Todd Allen was elected Pastor and the church began its ministry.  Sunday morning services were held at the hotel and midweek Bible study and prayer was held in private homes.

The time spent at the Comfort Inn was one of small growth; however, due to the fact that the hotel was placing more demands upon BFC; the church began looking for other options.

In 1994 Andy Anderson Jr. of Anderson Sales & Service was in need of a storage facility for the business.  He purchased the vacated Stringham Elementary School to accommodate that need.  Later, Andy acquired another warehouse and allowed BFC to lease the vacated school for $1.00 a month. Many renovations were done to improve the building.

In 1997 Pastor Todd Allen resigned and BFC began seeking a new pastor.  The Lord led Pastor Rod Phillips to the congregation.  He richly blessed the lives of all who attended BFC.

On September 27, 2002 Andy Anderson Jr. went home to be with the Lord.  On December 25, 2002, Andy’s family generously gave BFC the building the church had been leasing as a gift in memory of their beloved son, brother, and husband.

For the next two years the church grew spiritually and physically.  In December of 2004 Pastor Rod Phillips answered the call of God to pastor a church in California.  Pastor Rod’s last Sunday at BFC was December 5, 2004.  That same day was also the first day for the new Pastor God had called to BFC, Pastor Randy Bachman. Pastor Randy has brought new ideas and ministry opportunities to BFC, helping the congregation to further their personal relationship with Christ.

In 2006 BFC began an expansion explosion with the renovation of the middle section of the church building.  The church added two classrooms, a youth room, a library/classroom, two new bathrooms with handicap facilities and a commons fellowship area. The renovation then proceeded throughout the current portion of the church with new carpet in all the rooms and sanctuary, new gym tile, new paint, and new ceilings.  The outside of the building also received new paint and new landscaping providing a more aesthetic appearance.

In January of 2007 BFC called Michellee Bachman as the Music and Women’s Ministries Director.  She now is able to help the ministry further the cause of Christ through a staff position.

The Lord has brought new families to the church and the church is moving forward in the ministry of building personal relationships with Jesus Christ, Godly relationships with one another and with the community at large.  We look forward to what the Lord has in store for BFC
